What happens to messenger messages sent to me when I don't have coverage?

If I am in a bad cell zone and do not have cell coverage what happens if someone sends me a messenger message? Will it be waiting for me when my coverage resumes or does it get lost?

If it isn't able to find your phone at the time the message is sent, it will not relay it later. It is kind of like someone paging you. If the pager isn't in the proper coverage area at the time the page is sent, you never get it.

I was able to get all of my messages over the last week after going to Manage Connections and turning the signal off and back on.

Yeah sorry Kaleb, but it works like sms and mms messages, the network continues to resend the message for up to 72 hours from the origination.

Hmmm, well not sure if that is an Alltel issue because we have 8 BB's and I have tested this before because of the same question within my company and we didn't receive the messages if we were not in a coverage area or had the "radio" off and then turned it back on 30 minutes later.

It may just be a Alltel Issue then. Most carriers continue to send all messages for up to 72 hours from origantion. They may need a direct connection in order to send.

I know with verizon if i dont get a message bc i am in modem mode or out of coverage then i get the pending message when i get network coverage again. it may be the case because you have alltel but have no fear bc soon you will join the ranks with us verizon folk after the merger
