    Warranty question

I have a question regarding the warranty.

i just bought a Curve 8310 with AT&T. I think I heard somewhere that RIM has lifetime warranty on their products. Is this correct? I'm trying to decide if I should sign up for AT&T's warranty service for $4.99/mo...

    Thanks for the help.

    Re: Warranty question

I have never heard of that, but maybe someone who is near and dear to RIM can shed some light on it.

    Re: Warranty question

There is no lifetime warranty to my knowledge. I would also be careful about the insurance and make sure to read the details since officially at&t does not insure Blackberry devices.

Great! More investigation is needed then I guess. Thanks for the responses.

    Re: Warranty question

For the basic consumer, AT$T doesn't insure and smartphone/PDA phone (except recentl;y they have decided to add the BlackJack when it dropped down to dirt cheap price) unless you have abusiness account and your account specialist has negotiated for insure to be available for any device on your account (but this only applies to specially negotiated business accounts). RIM only offers a 1 year warranty on their devices (and seems to deny most problems that are physically related claiming misuse by the operator).

    Re: Warranty question

I tried to get insurance on my bb from AT&T, but as squeakr says, it was a no go. I looked into getting insurance from a third party, but I couldnt find anything I was happy with.
