    unlocking vendor themes

I am going to be unlocking the themes on my BB, but I have a question> Do I delete the vendor.xml file AND change the vendor codes in the alx file? Or one or the other?

Also will the changes revert every time I use DM? Thanks

You have to delete the vendor.xml file ONLY when the OS you are downloading isn't from your carrier it invokes the *download* process if you are on att downloading vodaphone OS then yes - both must be done.

Sometimes other service providers have newer OSs for identical devices. For example, on an 8700 changing from OS 4.1 to 4.2 changes the handheld substantially: you are able to transfer multimedia files between the BB and the computer, amongst other changes. T-Mobile offered only the 4.1 OS for it's 8700g for a l-o-n-g time, so those of us that wanted the upgrade to 4.2 had to get it from other service providers. I got 4.2 for my TMO 8700g from Vodafone Germany! I think TMobile was hoping it's subscribers would opt for a new phone purchase, and they withheld the newer OS so ppl would think thier phones were old. Just my theory, though --

IF you mess up, and forget to back up, you can always uninstall then reinstall and it will give you a fresh alx file

Possibly a syntax error when editing blackberry.alx -- go back and check that part of the file

Cherri's right -- that section is for 72xx, so it needs to be changed back. The only vendor IDs you'll be interested in changing is for series 7100 --
