The pin should come from the sim card if I am not mistaken. If you have had a bb previously and you are using the same sim the pin should be the same. Then again I could be wrong.

actually the pin is assigned within the phone. you can find it by going to options, and then status. you will see your pin number there.

The pin number and puk code are two seperate items. Your sms settings should not be dependent on your pin (to the best of my knowledge). If it is asking for the PUK code this is a security code that some networks require before you can create new codes. You will need to contact your provider for the puk code, don't continue to try the wrong code as you only have limited attempts.

Yes and no. On a Blackberry you have the device PIN which is a hardware identifier. However, if you enable security on a SIM card on a wireless device the device will ask you for a PIN code. It's not asking for your Blackberry PIN -- it wants the SIM security PIN.

Yeah, the SIM security PIN is what trina1969 is talking about.

You said that you received the phone unlocked, was there another user before you?

If not, the default PIN is usually either 12345 or 00000, since five numbers is the minimum code length.
