Yes but the easiest way is to go thru your carrier. I just unlocked mine without using the USB cable.

Yes, but what does your carrier charge for unlocking a device?

Rogers charges $200 (last time I checked) for ANY device to be unlocked.

Tmobile does not charge their customers anything they will send you the unlock code with the instructions on how to unlock the device. Request are sent via email. I unlocked mine with tmobile last week as well.

    Re: unlock me

First of all be sure the following qualifications are met:

    1. Active account for at least 90 days, cancelled account less than 90 days. At least 90 days of continuous active monthly service. The account must not be delinquent or in write off with an outstanding balance.

    2. Only one sim unlock code per active line of service.

    3. The name on the request must be listed on the account as the billed party name, authorized user, or contact name.

The following information must be e-mailed to T-Mobile Customer Support:

    Account holders name (required)
    T-Mobile phone number (required)
IMEI Number-this is found in the Status screen under Options
Account Password or last four digits of the account holder's SS number
    Contact number or email address

Once you get your unlock code back, here's what you do:

    To Unlock:
    1. On the Home screen, click the Tools icon. The Options screen appears.

    2. In the tools screen, select the Settings icon.

    3. Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number and the SIM ID number.

    4. Type 'mepd' to display the first five levels of SIM locking. T-Mobile uses network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled.

Please note: For the BlackBerry 7100t you will hit the "P" twice when entering the 'mepd' and 'mep2' for steps 4 & 5.

    5. Type 'mep2' to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code (Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2)

    6. Input the SIM Unlock code (it will be 16 digits long). The screen will show "Code Accepted" then the Network will display "Inactive."

    7. Press ENTER and reboot handheld.
