Yeah i deal with a lot of different models of phones every day and it just makes me appreciate my BB even more. Dash? put a bullet in my head. Wing? Put two!!!!
I do however go back to my Nokia 6010 occassionally b/c it is bullet proof, and pulls signal anywhere.

    Very well said!

I firmly believe that "newer is not always better" and I admire the durability and longevity of the BlackBerry lineup.

However that said, what I'm NOT saying that newer is not always better applies to the BB line.

I think one of the greatest features of each and nearly every BB is the older models are still really terrific devices, and one gets a lot of value out of being able to use one for a long period of time, instead of always having to upgrade.

And example is if I were asked what my ideal BB would look like and be comprised of here is what I would love to see Rim build.

A 7290 case and keyboard married to the guts of a 8700c, with it's brilliant display the OS and device without a camera or music. The only reason I quit using my 7290 was for the advantages of the 8700c as noted. However for me, the 8700c keyboard is miserable as compared to the 7290. That was the best keyboard I've ever used. And as far as size is concerned I liked the large size which was very easy to hold for long periods of time and just worked so well for me.

    Cheers...

I have thought the exact same thing -- why couldn't they put the 8700 screen in a 7290 body? I like the 6320-7320-7290 keyboard, because I'm 6'5" and have big hands and appreciated the "spread" between the keys. I got a 8700g and ended up giving it to my son because of the little keys-- My current 7105t is a good compromise, larger keys and the brilliant screen. Takes a little while to master the SureType

You and I are on the very same page, as I'm 6'3" therefore I have large hands. When I tried the 8700 what was particularly frustrating for me is how RIM shaped the keys. When you look closely, they are tapered on the sides and beveled on the edges, therefore it reduces the amount of flat surface for you to press on the top side of the key. If they would have created keys that were standard in shape as they did with the 7290, while not as large, they would still have been much easier to use than the existing keyboard on the 8700. I have a 7130c that has larger keys with wider spacing between them than the 8700. Once I decided I was going to be patient and learn ShureType, now I'm really happy and hooked on the SureType input method. I can type as fast or faster than on a qwerty keyboard with less errors.
I had no idea how much I would like SureType and how valuable it would be from a standpoint of speed and accuracy. Currently I have a BB 8700c, 8800, 8300, and 7130c and of all those choices I continue to prefer the 7130c by a wide margin. Too bad they prematurely discontinued it, as every other BlackBerry has been left in their inventory of abvailable devices far longer than the 7130c which was discontinued in less than one year. Not only that it's been one of their most reliable models with the fewest complaints here. What common sense? I know they view the Pearl as it's replacement but it's not in my eyes, as the Pearl is so much smaller. And it's completely opposite to RIM's strategy when replacing a full qwerty device, they make it very similar and only a bit smaller, not a drastic reduction in size as we have between the 7130 series and the 8100 series.

I think the old blackberrys are pretty hideous looking. But then again I'm a bandwagon pearl user. I love my blackberry but it does cause a little tension with my gf.

I'm not sure if BBs are truely beautiful, unless you understand all the features.

For me, I think the Pearl is a nice looking phone, but once you see what it's capable of, you realize it's just awsome. Then again, function over form for me. The Pearl gets good marks in both.
    As always, just my opinion...

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Curve and Pearl are two of the best looking phones out now. Most brands seem to get uglier as time goes on. Not BB.

I think BB's are good looking handsets - especially when you look over the past three years or so and see how the design has evolved and how much smarter and contemporary they look now.

In terms of smartphones, I think the Nokia E65 isn't a bad looking piece of kit, but obviously doesn't offer the functionality or keyboard compared to a Pearl or Curve for example...

I knew that if I looked hard enough I could extract even more humor here.......

I plucked this out of Websters, and I quote: "placing excessive emphasis on one's own moods, attitudes, opinions, etc.; unduly egocentric."

My take: A perfect description of a certain Mr. Jobs....tsk....tsk......

Proof positive that the just the thought of an iPhone is indeed entertaining and very funny!
