    Ugh, Sorry...memory drain ridiculousness

Okay, I know this is old news here...and I've done everything suggested(especially here, http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...call_logs.html)

I'm at the end...I've been fighting a losing battle against memory drain for 48 hours now. I was at about 3MB's left of space. I deleted a ton of pictures and got to 8MB's. I deleted some more things and got to 12MB's. I woke up this morning and had 7MB's left. I deleted some stuff and got to 8MB's. A few hours later, I was down to 3.....then 2MB's. I panicked and deleted ton's of app's, languages, demo video's, installed pictures...etc etc etc. I got it back to around 8MB's....and now, within 30 minutes, I'm drained to 6MB's without opening any programs or taking pictures or anything.

Seriously, what gives? I can't keep having my inbox deleted every day because of these memory drain issues.

have you downloaded and installed your device software? (not even sure what blackberry you have, as your profile isn't filled out completely)

the 4.2 devices seem to have a memory leak out of the box...

that is the ONLY way to truly alleviate the memory dumping...

boblincoln, as cherri suggests the best way to resolve this is an OS upgrade. We can help you with that by giving you links and how to's, but could you please complete your profile so we can get you the right info? Thanks

When you open the Application Loader (via Desktop Manager), how much space does it say all your stuff consumes?

Ok, I got an SD card and transfered everything to it. I still only seemed to have about 8k left.

SO, I found my "Content Store"...which was huge! So, I deleted it, and after that it still wouldn't delete 22 files and my content store is WAY bigger than any other file. The content store is about 6800kb's while my next biggest file is only about 300k. How do I get rid of the last 22 files in Content Store?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I believe they are saying you need to upgrade your device software. Your device will be backed up during this process. Go to the 81XX forum and start reading the thread about the latest device software for the 8130.

Ahhh, well. I went and took a look. My current software on my blackberry is the most recent.

That said, any other ideas what it could be?

    Re: Ugh, Sorry...memory drain ridiculousness

I don't think it's an issue with the version you're running because I have the newest one also and my memory loss issues are not as extreme as yours. After a battery pull I run about 20mb free and it runs down to about 14mb by the end of the day but usually stays around there +/- 1mb for a few days. I have removed the sample video and help files (I find pinstack more usefull than the pre-installed help)....that freed up quite a bit of memory. I have quite a few 3rd party apps and extra themes loaded on mine too, I've never had to delete apps in a hurry to save memory like that.

Your content store file size does seem huge...I have 24 items in mine but at only 492k, not over 6,000 like yours......hmmm wish I could help you with that. I'll be watching this to see how it gets solved.....hopefully one of the experienced stackers will jump into this with you and figure it out.

I had this exact problem and I did the Alltel OS upgrade. It solved my problem. I suggest you do the same.

That's the thing though...I can't do an "upgrade" cause I'm currently running the most recent version of the OS.

    Re: Ugh, Sorry...memory drain ridiculousness

boblincoln, the easiest fix that I've found is to install a program called softreset. the effect is the same as a battery pull, without having to pull the battery (which is a pain). all you have to do is install the program and every so often click the icon to do a soft reset of your BB. i do it about once every couple of days. after the soft reset, my memory increases drastically, from say 7 MB to 13 or 14 MB, sometime more depending on what apps i happen to have at the time. i currently have a bunch of themes, google search, google updater, live search, mobitv, pacman, pipes, sudocontest, viigo, webshortcuts. btw, i also have an 8130 running the sprint 4.3.0.71 OS.

to find the download link, google "geekandproud soft reset" or look elsewhere around these forums for the links.

    Re: Ugh, Sorry...memory drain ridiculousness

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I have also gone through all the suggested memory gaining steps and I have noticed a sight issue. I have an 8100 and I upgraded my OS to 4.2.1.107 and I have noticed my memory leak getting larger and larger. i have color pearl, google maps, soft reset and color pearl installed. No other 3rd party apps.all my photos music and. Ringtones are on my memory card. I daily clear error logs, clear browser cache and history, keep my message inbox to 5 messages or less, a soft reset usually occurs daily. I currently have one theme downloaded. After a soft reset or battery pull I have around 19 MB then I check about an hour later and I have 9MB. I had to recharge the BB and I checked back. I then had 14. I deleted a theme and did a soft reset and I had 11. I don't understand why this is happening. I do not have any apps open except for the five that are always running. This started about a week ago and is getting progressively worse. Do I need to reinstall the OS or maybe its just time for a new one
