Typing "sig" in the body of an e-mail?

I have got the "Auto Signature" feature on -- found it, personalized it, and it's working great ("Sent From My BlackBerry . . .")

However, here's another situation -- I am typing an e-mail and within the body of the e-mail I type the word "sig" and all of a sudden some text is inserted into the e-mail. The text inserted is a small part of my regular signature tag from my Lotus Notes e-mail. But it is not the complete signature tag.

On my BB, from the home page, I go to "options" and then "auto text" -- I look under "sig" and it says replace "sig" with "%O"

Where does/did that come from? Can I edit it and get my entire signature tag from my Lotus Notes to be inserted when I type the word "sig"?

Thank you again and again, and again, for your help.

Any help on this? I've been playing with this, trying to figure this out, etc.

    TIA.

sig/%O is whatever you entered into the Owner Information on your Blackberry. you can definitely edit it. Just go into autotext and change it to whatever you want. I personally turn off the autosignature and create a zz autotext entry (it's convenient) for my signature.

    Go to Options
    Go to Autotext

See what zz is assigned to as the autotext.

This is actually a geek tip:

A user by the name of Sanderson on the Rim Road forums added:
Instead of having your one auto signatures set up for you, try this for multiple signatures:
    1. Delete your existing auto signature.
    2. Make an auto text entry where:
when I type: zz (or any irregular 2 letter combo like zx)
    replace it with:
    Your Name
    Your Company
    Your phone extension etc.
auto text entries can really hold a lot. give it a try. I have zz as my "professional" signature and xc as my "casual" sign off.
once you get used to it, you don't even notice that you're entering 2 extra letters @ the end of a message

Zz's just convenient because it's at the bottom left of the keyboard and it's not like you're going to use it for any other autotext unless you're a ZZ Top fan or something...

well, if you talk about catching a lot of ZZZs this may not be a good choice either.

Re: Typing "sig" in the body of an e-mail?

Got it. I am kind of playing with the auto text feature(s) now. For compliance purposes I do need a certain "constant" signature tag so that's OK. I have that set as my auto signature. I am going to close my e-mails -- depending on who, what, where, etc. -- with something from the auto text settings.

Thanks again everyone. Took me long enough to figure this out, LOL. I kept saying to myself "where is it getting this information", LOL. It was pretty funny. You might have had to be there, but it was funny.
