As a security reason, you are not able to shut off the shutter sound. But, I think there are an application out there where you can install that will take the sound out. Perhaps other stackers will be able to assist.

Search the stacks about this, there are several posts about this. Bottom line, you either have to purchase a program to do this, or "trick" the phone (make a call then use the camera while on the call.)

Since RIM is based in Canada, and there are laws about this then we're kinda stuck with it...

Berrycoder has one called "Peek-A-Boo" .

Go to www[dot]berrycoder[dot]com from your blackberry browser. There are four apps total on that page. All OTA downloads.

You could always just call your vm whenever you need to take a silent pic, peek only works sometimes and is impractical.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Yes, I agree. Peek isn't the best solution, but calling your voicemail to take a picture is just as, if not more, impractical.

That is why I guess that they have the restriction where they have the sound when you snap a pic. On my bold, the sound is soft that you can't hear it when you are in public.

Like some of the other posters here, I have tried taking a pic while I am on a call. Or you can download the applications that is out there.

Perhaps a bit more practical is to have your bluetooth headset connected or your wired headset/earbuds plugged in. The shutter click will no longer be audible to others, if I recall correctly.

    Hope this helps.
