    Transferring Data from PPC

Howdy, new to the forum, new owner of 8700g.

I'm moving on, reluctantly, from my PPC (IPAQ 2215) to the BB, partly to consolidate to one device (cell phone and "PPC"), mostly for the media and services offered on the BB (internet, E-Mail, etc).

I would like to transfer my data from my PPC to the BB. As I've had my PPC for a few years, I've amassed quite a few addresses and Calendar events. I've looked around and can't find a clear answer to this question: How can I transfer the data, if possible at all, from the PPC to the BB?

    Thanks.

Does it synch with outlook? If yes, just synch it and after synch your BB and all your info should transfer

    WELCOME TO THE BOARDS NAVYMUSTANG!
(Excuse the all caps, had 2 redbulls for breakfast-lol)

I did the exact same upgrade u did going from PPC 2215 to a 8700g.

The overall transfer was rather easy. Sync PPC with outlook. Load desktop manager software for 8700g, plug in your device (make sure you establish a connection). Then tab over to data (3rd tab from left) and select data connection or connection settings.
Essentially window where you select what you want sync'ed from PIM. And then sync it. My data transfer was pretty seamless. The biggest issue I had was making sure my I got all the data out of my phone to my SIM card. I ended up using a bluetooth connection to sync phone data from sony T616 to Outlook, then re-syncing to 8700g.

I hope this helps, let me know if this works for you.

Typing this in the middle of my commute to work. Gotta love the crackberry experience- Lol

Welcome to the Stacks from an Ex VP sailor, NavyMustang. As stated above, if you use Outlook and have been syncing you PDA with that, all you have to do is sync your Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and Notes with your 8700. It works great. And be sure to let us know if you have any other questions or problems. Everyone here will make a great effort to help you solve any problems with your BB.

And Go Navy, haven't heard the term Navy mustang in a long time. Does your use mean what I think it does?

    Hope this helps

Mustangs are my favorite Naval Officers! Welcome to PinStack! Just sync it with your outlook and you'll be good to go. I too went from PocketPC to BB.
