    Trackball and Thumb Wheel

Just got the curve and I like the trackball but I liked the thumb wheel a little better... I understand they added the trackball to move left and right also but having both would be nice..

I see the convenience of the trackball, but I find the ball to feel a bit flimsy or delicate. Also it looks like it'll get dirty with time. Perhaps the material or build of the entire trackball unit will improve.

yeah i agree, it seems like RIM didnt take the time to build the new blackberrys as well as say the 8700 or 7290 they seem more durable than the three newer devices out right now

I was against the track ball and the sure type. That was until I gave the Pearl a shot. I've since moved my primary Sim to it. You will be a pro with the track ball soon.

I don't think I can have it any other way than the trackwheel!

    Re: Trackball and Thumb Wheel

I love my trackball. But having the track ball and the thumb wheel would be extremely awkward on a device. Maybe rim should come up with another idea that puts the track ball and thumb wheel together if that's even possible.

I'm a proponent of the thumbwheel myself. I'm a couple of weeks away from possibly getting a new 88' model from VZW, but I'm a bit hesitant. Guess it's because I am so acustomed to the thumbwheel...it's location just seems natural to me now.

I'll play with the 88' for a while before I talke the plunge...will keep my 87' for a few weeks afterward...just in case I don't like the 88'. MAN...decisions, decisions!!!

I was pretty much the same way when i picked up the 8830. I was a little leary of the trackball at first, since i was so used to the thumbwheel. After some time using the trackball, im becoming more comfortable with it, although I still find myself searching for the thumbwheel now and then still. haha.

I assume they are moving away from the scroll wheel due to the whole "Blackberry Thumb" thing.

    Re: Trackball and Thumb Wheel

A combination trackwheel and trackball (pearl) wouldn't interest me at all...

The slim form factor offered with the ball is a major contributor in me coming back to BB from WM and Palm OS (among others of course)

    Re: Trackball and Thumb Wheel

I have yet to try the trackball, but I'm seriously considering it. Being lefthanded, holding my BB in my right hand feels unnatural, but it's 10 times harder to use the thumbwheel when it's in my left hand...

Been a BB user since the 7250, had a 7130e, a 8703e and a 7100i. I'm waiting my 8830 to arrive and I'll tell you what I think about the difference
I'm french canadian so I can also help you in french, just PM me
UNLESS it is for a BETA OS, it's at your own risk and I won't support it
