Hey, the're no worse than some of the names Samsung has come up with-Blast, Katalyst, Gravity and Behold. I guess there are so many, the manufacturer's are running out of names-besides the kids dig the names.

I guess that the names will be definately better than having only numbers.
Have a look at NOKIA. They named their phones only with numbers and now they put the formfactor of the phone to that number:
Fold, Slide or Classic. They are running out of numbers.

    And to be honest: I don't want a 9000classic! I want a BOLD!

I mean, if these names had any meaning or relevance whatsoever I might be able to understand. My 8900 for example. It's a Curve, whatever the hell that is BUT it's also a Javelin. Ohhhhh. How exotic. I wonder if RIM was equating it to something that could be thrown down a field (doubtful) or a silly AMC car produced in the 1970s? These names aren't catchy at all, not that they need to be. What they need to be is eliminated.
Names add personality. If everyone was to think your way, why do we have names? Instead of my name my parents might as well have just called me offspring 0001M (M is for male).

Names give personality to something that otherwise would be dull and heartless(numbers).

Its the same reason we have domain names instead of typing in IP addresses, for personality plus its easier to remember.

Who cares. You all still bought the phones you own,no matter what the name was right? It's a BlackBerry - that's all. Personally, I like the different names, but I don't think about it really all that much to let it bother me whether or not the name is cool or not. Just my own opinion.

    People... Let's start a revolution...

Let's name our devices... Let's give our BB a name.

AND let that name show somewhere on your device...

DECALS, Stickers, Etching... Many options out there... And let's post back right here... !!!

    REVOLUTION !!!

I guess it's like asking if you prefer toilet paper, or a corn cob named the 89wxi?
    Which would you buy?

hehe, don't forget about the 90's and of course 2009.

But i agree the names RIM have been using are lame. Actually last year when I was driving down the road listening to a commercial for cell phones I was also wondering who @ RIM was naming these things? They need to be FIRED!

We should start another thread on names of future Blackberry's and send it to RIM hoping they will use one of them.
