    These Names Are getting Silly....

What's up with RIM and the ridiculous names they give their devices?? And why name them at all?? The Curve, the Javelin, The Bold, The Storm and let's not forget the long anticipated Pluto!! Why not just stick with the numbers. Or maybe have numbers followed by a letter notation to classify it. The Storm, for example, 9500T (for touch screen, duh). I mean, if these names had any meaning or relevance whatsoever I might be able to understand. My 8900 for example. It's a Curve, whatever the hell that is BUT it's also a Javelin. Ohhhhh. How exotic. I wonder if RIM was equating it to something that could be thrown down a field (doubtful) or a silly AMC car produced in the 1970s? These names aren't catchy at all, not that they need to be. What they need to be is eliminated.

If you throw a javelin on a curve you get better distance

Some thing bold, is well bold nothing else needed to say

and there was a storm coming in rolling out a new BB

Sersiously though You go design something like this and name it anything you want, doesnt matter, people will buy it, You did..

I bought a nut cracker and that doesnt sound apealling at all, man what were they thinking

There was a BOLD guy travelling on a curved road.he slipped because of the storm earlier which which shot rain from the clouds like a javelin as he fell to the ground he saw a pearl which looked like pluto. it doesn't mean anything just enjoy the device and peace. Lol

Well, I hope they don't change the name of that so called rumored bb to come out as a hybrid "Magnum" to something girly because I sure as heck don't wanna be walking around with something called Javelin or gemini or princess. Please RIM I beg you do not change its name leave it as "Magnum" or at least name it "Trojan" lol

Probably the same reason any phone company names any of their phones.

People remember names. The amount of times I used to have customers coming into my shop, "oh do you have that nokia, 3160, no 6103, no....what's it called" Me: "6310?"

Names stick in peoples mind, every calls the Pearl™ a Pearl™, not an 8110, 8120.

And Javelin isn't the actual name. Its the Curve 8900, but once again people prefer names and Javelin just seems to have stuck. It was the RIM Internal code name before it was released.

I think the names are cool, but the numbers are better.

Does it really matter? I think the names are unique and different. I prefer the names and the numbers. But names are cool
