Question AT&T, Warranty Replacement, Refurb 8310 for Refurb Bold?

    Hi all,

I have an AT&T Curve 8310. Actually it is my third refurb 8310 via 1 year warranty replacement policy provided by AT&T and Blackberry. However, I'm interested in getting a bold.

After searching around the forums, I read some interesting information:

"Some things they don't tell you that you should know:
--If you continue to have this problem, you'll be eligible to receive a refurb device for another phone model after your third replacement phone."

The "Problem", as quoted above, is continually replacing refurbs (under warranty replacement policy), because of device issues. (reference link below)

My question is - Can anyone verify this? Is there any other people that have done this with AT&T? I'm considering, but would like more feedback on this policy first.

I worked for AT&T for 4 years and I have had heard of people getting an alternate phone because they have had multiple replacements. It was never handled in store. I would say go for it. Ask, the worst that will happen is that they will say no. But if you have had multiple replacements AND the reps have properly doc'ed the instances, I would say that you have a case. USUALLY, an alternate phone model is offered ONLY if the phone being replaced is no longer availbable through warranty replacement. I would definately see what they have to say about it. When I left, they were really pushing 3G devices. They might jump at the chance to get you over to the 3G network.

Not sure, but you would do well to trade an 8310 for a Bold, even if it is a refurb.

you have to push them but yes you can. with Tmo at least... but it is to the discression of the manufacturer.... thats the catch. so try and see.... and always ask for supervisor if they dont give you what you want. thats what i did and they transferred me to the replacement department right away.

    good luck

With T-Mobile, after 2 bad 7105t's 3 years ago, I was able to get them to replace it with an 8100. They gave me the options for replacement (A Dash, another 7105t and a Wing, I think). I wouldn't accept it because the 8100 came out. I ONLY left the store when I knew for sure I was getting the 8100 I wanted. Took a week to ship it to me, but I got it.

    Hello All,

    I'm Back!

So the other day I called to get a third refurb curve under the 1 year warranty (no insurance) and they offered me another model of the same make!

I asked for the bold and 1 day later (free priority shipping) I had it!

It actually works! And the bold kicks a@#! FAST processing, wi-fi, 3G.

    So happy!

HOpe this thread can offer some good advice for anyone else interested in doing the same.

    my only bit of advice:
Give it some time between refurbs. Also, they ask you to pay for priority shipping. Dont pay. ask if they can do it for free. They will. They did it for me every refurb I requested.

    Cheers!
