    Switching from 7105t to 7290

I'm switching GSM devices, from my 7105t to a 7290. Positive: I like the larger QWERTY keyboard, seems a bit more comfortable for my large hands; more single-press menu options (for example, the A key in the Calendar displays your agenda, on the SureType device you have to menu to it); Screen is more visible in direct sunlight; screen is always on, even when not lit; it runs much faster; you can use a lot more keys for Speed Dialing; etc. Negatives: 7105t has a much nicer display quality (for graphics, pix, etc.); speakerphone; and the dedicated call/hang up keys.

Nuetral: The 7105 (or, more accurately, the 7100 series) and the 7290 were introduced at the same time (4th Qtr 2004); they have identical memory (32mb); their latest (and last) available OS is the same (4.1.0.377), so in many ways they are really the same device in a choice of old or new packaging. I like the classic BB look, and I like that the 7290 is much faster, and I l-o-v-e the old style keboard (the "Seeds"), so I'm gonna pull the switch-er-roo!

What about the 88xx, what are your thoughts on that? Got the best of both BB's in my opinion.

I saw one and typed a bit at a cell phone shop at a local mall, and it has the same shortcoming as the 8700g I owned and gave to my son: I'm over 6 foot 5 inches and have big hands! So I guess it's my shortcoming, not the handheld's, that the keyboard is w-a-y too small for by big thumbs. The Seeds on the 7290 are spread apart enough that it is much more practical. If not for that, I'd probably still be using the 8700. The only other issue is speed -- 7290 and older are very fast machines, and the 7100+ devices (with the incredible screen and the polyphonic tones) are just a touch slower. (I qualify this statement: my 7100, 7105t and 8700g are slower than my 7290,7230 and 6230 models, the 6230 being by far the fastest). But, like I say, the main thing is my thumbs -- I gotta have the SureType or the Seeds
