Question Stop emails from coming to Blackberry

    Hi everybody

When they're on vacation several of my users has asked how to stop the emails from coming to their BB device.

We're running a dedicated server (BES) for email reconciliation.

I've tried to stop wireless reconcile on the device which didn't do the trick. I also tried to switch data connections off (on the new BB software) but this also stopped the users from getting SMS.

    Any solutions?

In BES you can choose a user and right-click them and choose disable redirection. That will stop emails to that user. When you enable it again I don't think it will re-send the mails the user missed while off though.

You can also set up a rule server-side to immediately move their inbound messages to a public folder. The user can even set up the rule through their Outlook client. If the messages moves to a public folder before the MDS can see them, there's no redirection. Then when the user comes off vacation, those messages could be moved back to their inbox, at which point they'd be reconcilled with the handheld.

Why not just leave the BB at home or at work if email isn't desired while on vacation? I guess they might need the phone portion of the device just in case?

If you are on vacation and the red light flashes,

    Ignore it.

Waaaaay OT for the thread, but if its a full BES device, that says to me that its a WORK device. Leave that junk at home or better yet the office! Its called a vacation for a reason! Sorry, my personal opinion.

Thanks for the info about the solutions. Good to know how to do it.
