Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the blackberry browser go through RIM's server for processing? And likewise with Opera going through Opera's server?

Assuming it works like I imagine it does, the speeds you all are receiving are the connection speeds of the Blackberry server, not the speed of your phone. EVDO speeds are similar to DSL speeds (1500mbps), with EDGE averaging around 128-256kbps.

Unless of course you seriously believe you can stream 9 concurrent HD video streams over your EDGE connection. And if so, more power to you.

I just tried it again with WiFi disabled and it shows me 256 Mbps.

I enabled WiFi, ran it again and I get 409.60 Mbps.

It seems like it's measuring the connection speed from my BB to my Internet Source.

still doesn't make sense people... not many broadband connections can get that high... in the 100mpbs range... that means that if u were downloading a file u would be downloading at about 30mb/sec... which is 30000kb/sec... come now.... maybe only on an OC49...

    it makes sense:
if RIM is using caching proxy servers:
such servers are able to service requests without contacting the specified server, proxy cache server retrieve content saved from a previous request, made by the same client or even other clients.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Like I said in one of the first few post, ya'll blowing my EVDO out the water. Let me in to know how to hook up a T1 to my blackberry cause those are some exploded figures. Real-world conditions EVDO 400kb-3.1mb/sec speeds. Edge considerably lower, not sure about wifi.
