    Not to be overly technical, but the principal at work here is inductive charging. This has been used for years on things like electric razors that are wet/dry. There are no metal contacts to get wet. I recall seeing someone's project notes on the web for a mouse pad they converted to charge their mouse!

    Its not so simple to simply remove the power connector from the wireless device. Until the splash pad would become universaly available (think cars, hotels, your parents house) then you will have to have that option as a backup. It will be a nice convience at the office and at home, but would take a long time to become a perfect replacement.
