Like an ID3 tag editor built in? I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to implement, but I don't know how much call there would be for one. Something even better would be integration with something like musicbrainz.org that does it automatically by the unique fingerprint.

I have no clue what you are talking about, sorry. All I know is that I want to be able to record part of a song, then get the song name and artist.

????? Everytime I play one of my MP3s, a banner streams across with the title, singer and album art. I thought it did it already. Please clarify.

what he is talking about is an application that allows you to record part of a song and then it retrieves the info.

    for example:
if you are listening to a song you like on the radio but you dont know what its called...you can use this app to record part of the song as you listen to it and it will give you all the info on the song.
    BlackBerry Rocks!<-Check it out!

This is the service the OP is talking about:
    http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...4592627&EDATE=

I thought there was a phone number that you could call and play a song and it would ID it for you.

And here's and over the phone service:

    Forget an over-the-phone service...

An application like that offered by Sony Ericsson is the way to do it - record a small portion of a song (eg. Ten seconds) and then submit it online to be indentified.

My whole Family uses Sony Ericsson devices as their primary phone, and the "TrackID" works like a charm every time!

If I was to ever give up on BlackBerry and switch to a "traditional" phone, THIS would be the feature that would convince me to do it (I'm almost tempted to buy a cheap Sony Ericsson phone JUST for this feature)!

I don't see much of a use for the service. Unless you're a big classical music fan. I just google some lyrics and always find out what a song is.

    Who makes this "musicID" application?

Does it tell you who the developer is in the "about" information, the application properties (Menu-->Options-->Advanced Options-->Applications-->Application name (eg. "musicID")-->Menu-->View Properties), or anywhere else?

Maybe I can contact them directly and see if they will sell me a copy, even though I'm not on AT&T...

Agreed, but I happen to be listening to songs while im driving and then by the time I get home I forget the lyrics.
I had the VZW SONG ID on ym old phone and it was great.
Me and my fiance were on the way home last night and a song came on the radio, so she put her phone to the speaker and i told her to email me all the info.
Now the song is downloading right now.
