    Some ideas for future models

i have an 8700r and am happy with the unit so far overall but there is always room for improvement...right????

    1. that blinking led light - annoying or what!!! i have resorted to covering it with a small piece of black electrician's tape.
    2. no voice recorder in this day and age is kinda old school
    3. same with no voice dial
    4. there should be more than only 2 shortcut keys i think
    5. the send and terminate keys are kinda small
    6. a camera would be a nice feature - i know it is appearing on subsequent models - good on ya!
    7. the enter key is in an awkward location - especially with 2-handed operation - i know, i know, qwerty keyboard layout and all and the trackwheel click feature

just some feedback. what are your thoughts?

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    1. This can be turned off thru your screen options.

    2. I don't think the 8700 series was built for voice activated functions.

    3. Same as number 2.

    4. Maybe that will change one day.

    5. I find those bigger on my Pearl than any other model I have owned including the 7100 series.

    6. The Pearl and upcoming 8300 have cameras.

    7. Try the trackball, home and eacape keys on the 8100 and 8800 series.

That should say menu key which is to the left of the trackball. It features the BB logo on it.

    1. that blinking led light - annoying or what!!! i have resorted to covering it with a small piece of black electrician's tape. Already answered.
    2. no voice recorder in this day and age is kinda old school Kind of available on 8800 (send voice note)
    3. same with no voice dial Available on 8800
    4. there should be more than only 2 shortcut keys i think There are lots of shortcut keys. Turn off "Dial from Home Screen" in Phone Options, then use the letters underlined in the main screen to jump right into that app (like M for Messages). Lots of shortcuts within the apps too.
    5. the send and terminate keys are kinda small Shrink your fingers
    6. a camera would be a nice feature - i know it is appearing on subsequent models - good on ya! Pearl and soon to be introduced 8300
    7. the enter key is in an awkward location - especially with 2-handed operation - i know, i know, qwerty keyboard layout and all and the trackwheel click feature Use your thumbs

just some feedback. what are your thoughts?

A lot of these concerns have already been addressed by newer models that are already released. Other concerns are user adjustable. Your remaining concerns should be emailed to bbsuggestions@rim.com as RIM doesn't actively monitor these forums nor does anyone here work for RIM.

It's interestng -- I've never had a problem with any of these and I've never heard anyone else complain about them either. Still, share your concerns with RIM if you want them to be taken into account.

You might be surprized at to the number of RIM employees that visit these forums, some even daily. They don't advertize their employement status, but they do visit.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~#4. The 8700 has a ton of shortcut keys. Just deactivate dialing from the home screen.

I work for the Canadian Gov. because of the nature of our work 90% of my branch has either standard mobile phones or blackberries provided by work.

They can't have cameras for security and privacy reasons.

VR+ voice recorder works fine on my BBP. Why not include it?
The cam needs image stabilization and/or best pic for us old shaky guys
Allow the right convenience button to take a picture
Rotate viewer for full screen landscape

As for # 2N in some places that rely significantly on blackberry devices, recording device are considered even worse than cameras.
