Thanks for bringing up a good point. A bad sim does not always give an error message. And_ your carrier is happy ti give you a new sim. Just once did T-Mobile give me a hard time when I asked for a sim. So I asked fir the manager & suddenly the sales person became very nice & gave me a sim.....

My other sim card dies with .18, this has been happening to Tmobile customers. I have a feeling Tmobile is monitoring this. Maybe they are the once responsible for deactivating these sim cards. I might be wrong..

    You are welcome!

Of course I came to that conclusion only AFTER checking all kinds of settings and running all sorts of diagnostics -- on my BB and my laptop as well [I was using the BB as a tethered modem]

So yes, everybody, keep it in mind. Failed SIM is a definite possibility.

Having more than 10 years' experience in the field, I'll let you in on a secret of
    the craft:

Do NOT be among the first to jump on the bandwagon and try out an upgrade

It goes hand in hand with

Neither an alpha nor a beta tester be

To share my experience for what it's worth. Here is what I do on my main BlackBerry, and what I suggest to anyone that has just one BlackBerry, if only I could be normal like you....

Before you decide to upgrade to the latest OS, research it to see what the new OS has that is different from the one you are running. If it is something you _really_ need then upgrade. Otherwise don't bother. If your BB is working fine, just use it & enjoy!

8310 here, I've had no problems. I was just stating a fact lol...I've mentioned it in the 4.5 thread too. just seems to me that most of the problems with .37 are coming from the 8320s.

    Wise advice.

//Say I, even though I don't belong to the Sylvester Cult [Eh.. what's up, Doc?]

In an older thread, back when I had a 7105t, I mentioned that the upgrades
available had to do with things I never used...and as a result I kept the original OS on that BB to the end of its life.

I completely understand the importance of knowing the risk of running alpha and beta software, trust me. I always do my research before taking the leap. Seen too many people (and myself a few times) get dealt the short end of the stick from going in blind and uninformed.

    I hope we did!

(I've spent upgrade rollout mornings drinking my coffee and listening on the
telephone to the wailing and gnashing of teeth of colleagues who had jumped right in )

    Exactly, it's a T-Mobile issue.

Since I use both carriers, but have much better coverage when traveling for work (frequently) I unlocked my 8320 & put my AT&T sim in it, and it,s been trouble free since day one. I unlocked it because I use WiFi at home, the office, and Starbucks somewhere everyday.
