    Question Service Providers in Michigan

I am wanting to switch service from Nextel to someone elase as I want the 8700 and they do not provide it. Can anyone tell me if they have had good luck with Verizon, sprint or Cingular in Michigan. I will be using it in Grand Rapids to Traverse City area. Every service provider tells me their phones work great but I would like first hand knowledge from someone who has experience. I can switch to sprint without the contract problems, Cingular has better shared rates and Verizon seems pricy. I don't want to swith and regret it as the nextel service is good but I don't know if they will ever get new phones. Is the Sprint network faster than Nextel. Thanks for the help.

    Hello Johnny, welcome to pinstack.

You should get the Sprint 8703e. It has broadband internet and it would be the easiest for you to switch to.

Im not going to tell you if the service is better or worse, its all up to you to find out, since Im down in Florida.

I can however direct you to www.sprint.com/coverage for a detailed map of that area.

    Let us know your decision...

Thanks for the info. I think the coverage will be similar to Nextel. Do you know how the speed compares from the Nextel network to the Sprint? Is it 2x 3x ect? I like speed and the 8700 has a full keyboard and larger screen.

Keep in mind Nextel is TDMA and Sprint is CDMA, different services. Nextel works with time, Sprint works with codes, Sprint has more capacity but Nextel has a stronger signal strength.

With Nextel I had averages of 19kbps, with Sprint I have averages of 400-800kbps!
