    security/pin message ??

    I have a few questions.

If you set a security password on a Pearl, can someone take the battery out and reset the BB, thus by passing the password?

Can you turn on and off incoming pin messages?

Can you block a specific person by their pin number, or something?

    Thanks,

    Welcome to Pinstacks nopjinite.

    1. When you pull the battery it does not bypass your password.

    2. You can turn off your Data and still recieve calls, but no Pin messages or e-mail.
    3. Not sure about this, but I am sure someone will know here.

    Gaz.

    2. You can't really just turn PIN messaging off and on. A BES admin in a BES environment can set an IT policy to restrict PIN usage.

    3. Not that I know of. You mean block incoming messages from a specific PIN?

Thank you for responding. I don't use my BB through work, so, there isn't a admin or anything.

Yes, I meant block an incoming message from a specific PIN. But, if there isn't a way to do so, it is ok. I was just curious. I have had my Pearl for almost 2 weeks and I have no idea just want I can and can't do.

    Anywho, thanks,

As far as I know blocking someone specific pin number is not possible from a BIS prospective. There is no blocking option within bb messenger. Have you tried asking this person nicely that you just aren't into be messaged by him/her?

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I am having a problem with anyone right now. I guess I just want to be cautious, that's all. I never have had a BB, this is my first and I am not sure what it can and can't do. I haven't added anything to my pearl except a media card.

I am still trying to figure out how to get the application from pinstack to my BB so I can access the website from my BB. lol

    Anyway, thanks for your reply.

You Can Block All PIN messages, and I think it also blocks BB Messenger messages on the Pearl. Go to Options/Security Options/Firewall. You have individual check boxes for SMS, MMS, PIN and Blackberry Internet Service, which I assume is BIS email.

    Hope this Helps

Well I stand corrected. I wasn't aware of this feature. RCBJR - thank you for the heads up about that. I still consider myself a beginner. This goes to show you bb is more than just a phone with pda functionality it is a complete tool for everyone!
