    CBC News

Blackberry maker Research in Motion Ltd. said Wednesday it will partner with Eatoni Ergonomics to develop a new text keyboard technology as part of a settlement agreement between the two companies.
The deal between Waterloo, Ont.-based RIM and New York-based Eatoni, which designs hardware and software for keyboards, comes after the two companies filed patent infringement lawsuits against each other over a patent for "touch-typable devices."
As part of the agreement, reached through mediation, Eatoni would grant RIM license to use its technology and RIM would make an equity investment in Eatoni.
"In accordance with the new relationship, the claims brought by RIM and Eatoni have been mutually dismissed with prejudice," RIM said in a statement. Further details of the settlement were not disclosed.
RIM has faced a number of patent lawsuits in the United States over the technology found in its popular Blackberry personal digital assistant.
