    Re: RIM and Microsoft

This is a good rumor, but I strongly doubt there's a shred of truth to it - it just doesn't make sense for either party.

RIM is making money hand over fist - enough to pay off the $612.5 MILLION settlement last year in CASH and not flinch! Yes, over a half a BILLION Dollars!!! RIM also has a huge investment in a worldwide network (that's probably NOT running MS software) - something Microsoft most likely doesn't need at all.

Microsoft is going full throttle with Active Sync on Mobile 6. Although RIM is moving to port BlackBerry (Connect?) to Windows Mobile 6, the two systems have virtually nothing in common.

Although the Active Sync user experience is very much like using Outlook on a computer, a PDA doing email is NOT a computer (something MS seems to not care about). AS is active 24x7 - extremely expensive if you're roaming, especially Internationally, AND it devours Battery power.

No, I don't see this happening in the foreseeable future!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~coming from a business prespective does anybody know for sure if this is even a real possibility. This new addition to a set of rumors is something that needs to be considered by many, what are the benefits from this? If it happends, what will this effect do to current users of the bb network?
