I am surprised no one has got this working yet -- I love the idea of adding the ball bearing definitely appeals to me.
Good luck sorting this out and I will check back shortly =)

I want balls!
I actually got a quote for 4.5mm stainless steel balls with a rough finish. They were $200 for qty 100. I thought about getting them, trying it, and selling them. Then I started thinking... wouldn't a conductive steel ball be dangerous to the health of my device?

SS does not attract magnets. Like if u have a stainless fridge, you can't put up anything on it that's magnetic. So I don't see how these balls would hurt. As far as being confuctive..... Not sure if this would pose a risk.
I also doubt material expansion & contraction would be an issue either. You just may have stumbled upon something pretty cool szumlanski. And the price is very reasonable too IMO

I am not worried about the magnets. I am worried that if the ball somehow comes into contact with the innards of the device that it might short circuit something. I am not too familiar with the anatomy, not having taken one apart yet.
Again, if someone else want to take the reins, I'll email them my source.
