    Really Bonehead Move

ok, I was on ebay and decided to pick up another 8700, just to have(had a couple before I bought my 8300). Went to auction and got it for $43.99 incl. S&H. Got it yesterday, very nice, screen clear, trackwheel tight-a steal. I decided to download a couple of themes. I downloaded a 4.2 theme on my 4.1 8700-BIG mistake. Hour glass-red alert death. I KNEW better than to do that, dont know why I did it. Searched the forums and did EVERYTHING suggested to no avail. One of the techs suggested BB Repair Shop in Houston. Went to their website, $49.95 to wipe it and install 4.2 OS. Has anyone used them and are they good?

If you can't fix it you can either call it a lesson learned or have them fix it. That sucks. Went through that yesterday, and had a heart attack!!

Have you tried using Javaloader to connect to the device, then you can erase the Module associated with the theme?

I tried, it keeps cycling hour glass-off every 5 seconds, the DTM doent have time to recognize the device. I tried EVERYTHING written in the PINstack forums. I wasnt really messing with it, I just wasnt paying attention. Ive downloaded about 20 themes on the 8700s I had before. Has anyone used BB Repair Shop?

worse case-I'll still have less than $100 in a really nice 8700, even if I have to send it to get it fixed.

    Download JL_Cmder
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...d=5&linkid=452

    Unzip, and install JL_Cmder v1.9.0.exe

Start Menu > Run > CMD and hit enter

At the command prompt, navigate to c:\program files\jl_cmder

Ensure that your Blackberry is connected, and type the following command
"javaloader -usb dir" and hit enter

Look for the module with the same name as your Theme.

    Then type:
    "javaloader -usb erase -f themefile.cod

Device should reboot after the file is erased, and bootup to the homescreen.

If Javaloader has a difficult time recognizing the Blackberry, then try popping the battery again, and when it begins to initialize with an Hourglass, then run the command.

Good luck. Let me know if you have questions.
