Questions about going to Blackberry (from iPhone)
In my previous job I had a BB Curve 83xx connected to a company BES server.
As I am still charmed by BB I'm going to buy a Bold 9700 soon (probably).
At the moment I'm syncing my iPhone 3G with my own Exchange 2007 server wirelessly.
I sync mail, calendar and contacts.
When I'm swithing to BB I don't want to loose this. I absolutely want to sync my mail, calendar and contacts wirelessly.
As fas as my knowledge goes that is not possible with BIS. Because BIS polls a mail server via POP3 or IMAP.
Therefor syncing calendar and contact is not possible. Is my theory correct?
In that case I would need a BES (express) server to sync all items?
If thats correct I come to my next question.
Are all (new) BB devices capable of handeling BIS & BES?
I can vaguely remember (at my previous job) that devices that are BES capable are not BIS capable and vice versa. Is that correct?
Thanks in advance.
Well, you've got it right. You've answerd your own doubts. Regarding the services, both BIS and BES are available on any BB.
The 9700 is a great, if not the best device to date.
Thanks for the answer!
Sounds good. :-)
