Question re: Address Book, Contacts/over the air

Hey everyone, Day 4 and all appears to be GREAT! I have a problem/question.

So, I enter a meeting on my Lotus Notes calendar and magically it appears on my assistant's Lotus Notes calendar (on her desktop) and on my BB calendar. This is a very good thing! I get an e-mail in my Lotus Notes mailbox and magically appears on my BB. This too is a good thing.

Now, here's my problem. I enter a new contact in my Lotus Notes address book while I am sitting at my desk. The contact IS NOT magically appearing on my BB in my BB address book.

Can someone here make some magic happen and help me? I ran several searches here with some key words (some guesses on my part) and couldn't come up with magic. Thank you very much.

    Sup Ti,

You'll need to connect your USB cable to your device, this will sync your address book.

If this doesn't work, you should check your PIM Synchronization settings.
You might be able to enable wireless PIM synchronization. I'm not sure if this feature will work for BIS though.. Well, just give it a shot and let us know what happens.

When on BES sometimes only Calander is set to sync OTA by the admin. You may want to ask your IT about this.

I can and have sync'ed (the address book) via the cable. I have checked the PIM Sync settings on the BB (I think, if I am right about what you are referencing) and all seems OK there.

    What is BIS?

    Thanks.

Oh, that's right, you're on BES!~ DUH, I forgot. BES means Blackberry Enterprise Server.

And BIS stands for Blackberry Internet Service.

The BlackBerry Internet Service is a component of the BlackBerry Internet Solution, which allows you to integrate your BlackBerry device with up to 10 supported business or personal email accounts, and browse web content while on the go. You get "push" delivery of messages, mobile access to email attachments and images in popular formats, as well as convenient access to HTML and WAP pages.

Re: Question re: Address Book, Contacts/over the air

    gotcha, and again, thanks.

The "help desk" people forward this to the dedicated BB support team. I didn't even know we had one -- wow, there's a team! Anyway, the guy is great. It's actually the same guy who got me up and running. Maybe it's a "team" of one, LOL.

He said my wireless sync for the address book/contacts is not enabled and he has to request that the corporate/home office enables that feature. He also said that unlike mail and calendar entries, with contacts, you have to go to the address book in Lotus Notes and click on "Syncronize Address Book" (under Actions) in order to make the wireless sync happen. It's not automatic. He explained why and I assure that I didn't understand.

Let's see if it happens and works.

    Thank you all.
