Q re: loading a OS on an unlocked BB 8900 from Movistar

hi there, I have a locked 8900 from Rogers running 4.6.1.250. And my Girlfriend has my old 8100, and she is looking to upgrade. She likes my Jav so I have been looking to get her one.

In a local advertisement I found an UNLOCKED 8900 that is branded to MOVISTAR.

I am unfamiliar with unlocked BB's.

Once I get the phone, will I be able to load the ROGERS branded 4.6.1.250 version on it? do I still have to delete the vendor.xml file, or can I just upgrade the bb with the complete rogers OS.

will I run into any other problems trying to load a rogers OS? or should I try to load a leaked OS? IMHO I like 4.6.1.250 it has been very stable for me.

    thanks

    P

You can load any OS on the device as long as it is specific to the 8900. You'll still need to delete the vendor.xml file, though, if it's not a Movistar OS.
