    Hey all,

my work has blocked off sites such as Gmail and Facebook from our bb. so i was wondering if there is a way to access them thru the BB?

i googled some stuff and the option looks like using one of those proxy websites, i am little cautious of using my user name & password into those website... i guess i dont know enought about them....

does any one know of way to get around this? or any good proxy sites? i love to be able to access my gmail and face book.

    thanks in advance,

You would have to go to your IT department and ask them to grant permission for use of those services.

    Three ways around this.
    1) https://proxify.com (note the "s")
    2) https://www.gmail.com (note the "s", then accept the certificate at the prompt.
    3) For your Blackberry install the gmail app . Get the link from the maim Gmail login page.
    4) Use the mobile gmail website from a blackberry browser at m.gmail.com

The significance of the "s" is Secure as in Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). It goes out port 443 on your firewall instead of port 80. Most companies that filter websites with products like Websense only filter port 80 because thats where 99.9% of web traffic goes. Usually port 443 is used for secure logins and bank/merchant transactions so companies tend to not want to block that kind of traffic.

Does it matter? It's their network, their PC's, etc. Any company can block access to any site that it deems not work-related.

If your BB's not on their BES and/or they haven't blocked access to those sites via MDS you can.
