Problem on Some New BlackBerry Handhelds

This is a report on a known problem on newer Pearls and possibly other OS 4.2 based blackberry devices

    Symptoms:

    Lost Browser and other icons
    And
uncaught exception: applicationregistry.waitfor (reference number) timeout displayed on start-up.

Cause: Defective Desktop Manager on CD in the box causes loss of necessary software module on handheld on first connection and file/data transfer . This is only noticed on first attempt, so far.

Solution: Reinstall deleted module on handheld.

You will need to download and install on your PC, the current or a later version of the handheld operating system and let Desktop Manager / Application Loader replace the missing module.

    Hope this helps.

You're welcome. Too many people are thinking this is a service book problem. Its not. The service book don't get deleted.

And I got tired of thumbing the solution. Now I have a post to link to.

    Thanks.

Which is exactly the reason why people are warned to pay attention to the last screen when loading software which also shows applications that are being deleted.

Everyone just slow down a little bit on the clicking next next next finish.

Nate, this even happens on a sync. At least from the reports I've seen. And when I saw it happen to my ex's new Era Pearl, if didn't say it was going to delete anything other than the language support apps I had selected. I was paying particular attention, ex wife you know. It did tell me that there was a problem at the end though. Axnd it had the uncaught exception on the reboot of the pearl.

Thanks for the help. I lost my media net and browser when I removed all the unnecessary languages from my Perl.

Where do I go to get a new OS?

    Thanks a bunch
    New Pearl user.
