    Please help....

my pearl from tmobile loves to delete everything from my sms texts to my bbm conversations. its getting really annoying. I know that when your memory is low this happens; my file free count is 21127704 (is that low or average?)

i was wondering if this could be related to getting wet...my bb took a swim about a year or so ago.

two things: would reloading the os fix the problem? What other things could i do BEFORE trying to reload the os

i appreciate any help and want to say thank you in advance.

    Aloha,

Your file free is not too bad, and at that level I am not sure it should be deleting things....what Operating System version are you running?

    Lets also check this.
Open your message folder and hit Menu
    Options
    General
Scroll down and see what your setting is for Keep Messages: XXdays

    version is 4.2.1.107 (platform 2.3.0.83)
the messages is set to 30days

i could be in the middle of a bbm conversation and suddenly everything will be deleted. then when i check everything else (sms, mms, emails, etc...) everything is gone. i delete all my msgs, clear my phone log, clear the cache in browser, and alt lglg to clear the log at the end of the day.

i dont know whats going on.

Try setting it for saving for only 15 days. See if that helps.

Or you you could try setting it to keep messages forever! I am running 4.5 on my pearl and have it set that way and the only time I lose messages is if I let my memory get too low . Now that I dl'd that new program from my BoxTone I think that may be a thing of the past as when I leave it running I can ALT + Back and check it in a second. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Could be a freak software glitch. Reloading the OS could solve the problem. If you're not running one of the official versions of 4.5, now could be a good time and reason to upgrade. Of course, your BB taking swimming lessons could be a problem also. Are those the only problems you've had with it?

I went ahead and reloaded the OS, I used the one on tmobile's website as I'm a bit scared of going with 4.5 until tmobile releases their version. After an hour of chatting on BBM, all my conversations disappeared. I checked my phone logs and msg folder, gone again.

As of today my phone has started rebooting all by itself, freezing up on me, and the keyboard/trackball doesn't work right.

It looks like the end my friend.

Ouch. Definitely sounds like a hardware problem.

Sorry Anela, did not want to say this, but know it to be true from years of being a phone sales rep and part-time repair tech. Liquid damage is always permanent. It is like a time bomb, eventually its gonna go, you just don't always know when. Sorry
