You might want to try removing and reinstalling the bb messenger app. It can act buggy from time to time. Hope that helps.

Since BBM uses the PIN infrastructure for message delivery, it's data.

Odd since they use (again) the same message transport. I'll agree that BBM is more convenient in a chat setting -- if that's what you mean. I use PIN's in the same way that one would use SMS.

Your friends must have a data plan in order to recieve PINS, or friend request via BB messenger, also they have to be logged into BB messenger.

I have BackBerry Messenger v4.2 on a Pearl. I can't find where to add new contacts via PIN. Only email address.

Is this a "new feature" for BlackBerry Messenger v4.2.

Alternatively I might be being really stupid, it is Valentines after all, and Imight just be missing where I can add contacts via PIN.

Make sure that the PIN is specified for the contact in Address Book. It's just like when you go to compose a new message or place a call -- it will only show you the currently available options.

Re: pin messaging vs blackberry messenger

takeshi thanks for the suggestion, but this also doesn't work.

If I go to a contact whose PIN I have it still does not appear. I only have their email addresses.

This seems to be a floor with BB Messenger v4.2. I tried removing it and installing a n earlier version, but the icon doesn't appear on the BB.

It's a problem, because on PinStack you have everyones PIN but not necessarily their email address.

Anyone else have any other suggestions.

    Regards,
    Sp@d3r

When you add someone to BB Messenger using a Pearl, open the menu using the menu button not the trackball, and then select Add Contact, scroll up to Use Once (if the contact is not in your address book) and choose Request Pin (but you have to have their Pin in order to do this).

I use BB Messenger everyday for work and personal. I love it much easier to compose and like someone said earlier you can see the whole conversation from beginning to end. I like pin if it is a long e-mail type question. For my carrier in Canada (Bell Mobility), pin to pin and BB messenger is considered data. Thanks for unlimited data don't have to worry.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I have had times where replying to pin messages does via the reply option does not work. To avoid this, I just add people to my BB messenger contact list.
