    PIN help

At the risk of sounding like a newbie, I need some serious help.
I recently recieved a used Cingular 7290. I am not going to use it on a BES, so when I went to set up my BIS activation on Cingular's website, it told me that the PIN I was trying to set up was already in use and it wouldn't let me procede!

Is there anything I can do? I have no idea who the previous owner is or who registered the PIN.

How can I get this fixed?
    Thanks for your help!

You could just called cingular and ask them to have the PIN release

    Re: PIN help

Ok. So far both of the Cingular reps I've spoken with have no clue. They thought I was talking about a SIM PIN and reccommended that I contact BB. I'm pretty sure that it is a Cingular and not a RIM/BB issue. Seems like nobody knows at Cingular.

    Re: PIN help

I am guessing that the person you bought it from had it on a BES at their work and the PIN is still locked to that BES.

But I don't know anyone at Cingular (reps).

    Re: PIN help

Basically you will need to contact who ever sold you the BB and have them remove it from there BIS or BES, where ever it is registed. IF it was a Cingular BIS, the data support reps may be able to delete it from the previous account, but probably won't due to the posibility of theft. If it was BES I don't know anyother way of getting it released other than by the seller.

This is one of the problems of buying used Blackberry devices, sight unseen.
    Hope this helps

    Re: PIN help

I bought a used 7100 off of Ebay... It was used by another person and i got flooded with their emails (400 of them) i called Cingular and they had me contact BB and they took the pin off the other persons account and i set one of my own up . It can be done from my experience... Unless like the previsous post before mine said, it was on a BES network.. That is a whole different ball game there...
