Never heard of this, but it might be kind of cool. Some custom BB paint jobs
Has anyone ever attempted? Any pics? I want to try it...
I've seen it done on a forum once before with car paint, but I can't find it again. It looked pretty cool; I figured I could buy an extra 8300 faceplate and battery cover and try it out myself.

Being a custom car painter and designer u can get auto paint at any auto parts store, like advance auto parts!!! I am actually waiting for my new case to come in so I can custom paint mine to match my car!!! ;o)
We are working on custom powder coating on the metal and chrome pieces in a cell phone here in our shop. We have already done the chrome trim ring on a D807 and the metal housing on a motorola Razor. I will have to see about getting some of the trim on a BB sent out and see how they look when they come back.
I was planning on doing this but I'm still under warranty. Don't want to void that. I'm kinda tired of the chrome on the phone. My plan was to take all the chrome pieces and sand them down to the layer below and then paint it flat black or matte black with auto paint.
Ordered an extra case for my 8320 to try it out and see. I'll take pics and post when I do it.
(may be a while, work has been keeping me pretty busy)
Once my new faceplate comes in, I plan to try it on my old ones. I have heard of people painting their Sidekicks before. Usually, it's best to sand it with a fine grade sand paper. This will help the paint stay longer. Also here are 2 commonly used spray paint for painting plastics: Tamiya Spray Paint and Krylon Fusion
I think I'm going to try it tonight... I can always buy a new faceplate/battery cover online ... both for $20. So it's not like i'm hurting my bb or voiding the warranty.
Be sure to take pics
Oh I'll make a guide.. I just looked on youtube for a disassembly video...
Doesn't look too hard. I'm ready!
Yeah I have already taken mine apart a few times. Not as easy as taking the 87xx apart but still way easier than other phones.
Another note, make sure to let the paint completely dry before adding more coats. Drying times may vary depending on the weather. Good Luck. What color do you plan on painting it?
Going for hotpink
No worries, I'll make sure to take plenty!.. my bf has it all planned out on how to do it. I'm too scared to take it apart myself!
I think the pink will look really good with the black rubber sides.
I was originally going for lime green but changed my mind.
I have an extra faceplate and battery cover coming in the mail in case I screw it up... haha.
