    New BB, same emails?

Hey guys, I just have a few quick questions.

Let's say I lose my BB and have to switch to a new one. When I log onto my blackberry email address during set up, does it also set up the email addresses I set up before to be forwarded? Or would I have to do that over again?

What if I do a wipe/restore, would I have to add the email addresses to my BIS again?
I'm asking because I recently started forwarding all my emails (besides my spam account, of course) to my Curve. School, Personal, Work, etc, and I really don't want to have to start over!

    Thanks,
    Tim.

All you have to do is use the Switch Device Wizard on Desktop Manager to restore your last backup to the new BB. Then once you go to the BIS site, it will ask if you want to associate that account (with all addresses associated) with the new BB. Then resend the service books and you should be good to go. Done this process at least 10 times LOL

What if I lose it before I back it up on my PC? I Sync regularly but I don't really back it up. I thought that was just for when something in your blackberry decides to blow up and you have to reinstall the OS.

    Lose what?....your last backup?

Then you'll have to start from fresh on the new BB.

With ATT you log on to BIS and there is a Switch Device feature there
that will register new PIN and IMEI with the BIS.
TMo should have something similar on their BIS.

I think he meant what if he lost the BB before he got the chance to back it up.

Then if that's the case you'd be in luck and have your last backup on PC and all would be well in your world
Cause I know I would be really bummed if I lost my last backup or any backup

Always backup...I do so at least once a week!

I'm doing it as we speak! When you guys back up, do you just save over the old copy or do you make a new "back up" and archive the rest?

Oh, also, if you restore from a back up then you'll also have your email addresses on the BB, is that what you're saying? What if I load my back up file into another BB while I was still using my Curve? Would both of them get the emails forwarded?

Dude, good questions! I've never had to restore a backed-up file... this is stuff I should know before I get my 8120. Like as in 3rd party apps/games/themes... will the things I got OTA be restored with the backup file once I decide to switch?

Along with those, I have one more question! Well two actually.

I'm tyring to sync right now, and DM is telling me this:

The following changes from Calendar Device will be applied to your Microsoft Outlook data in Calendar:
    52 Deletion(s)
It wants to delete stuff from September to November of 2007. Why does it do this? Is there a way to turn it off? I want to keep all of my past appointments too.

Also, is there a way to save an appointment (Let's say a birthday) that will repeat EVERY year, instead of having to add them again and again every year?

    Thanks!

Take a look at your settings in calendar options. You probably have a value in "Keep Appointments" You can set this to "Forever" See if that helps.

I can't believe I totally missed that. Thank you! I was looking mostly through Outlook. Any ideas on the other questions? Anyone? (:

Edit: I kind of figured out the problem. Even if I do a one way sync to my BB, the ones that are from 2007 never show up. They just don't get synced to my BB at all. Is there an option to fix this?

Also, is there a way to save an appointment (Let's say a birthday) that will repeat EVERY year, instead of having to add them again and again every year?

    Thanks!

When you set up a new appointment in your calendar application there is a setting for "Recurrence" you may need to scroll down....

You should write an Outlook book for dummies, that worked perfectly, thank you! Any idea on the other one? I know I'm asking a lot.

    Depends....whats the other question?

Your carrier BIS set up determines the BB (by device PIN) where your emails go. If both devices are active and have a data plan then I guess they would both get emails , no reason they would not.

When you restore your back up to another device you will still need to set up your new device (at least the PIN) on the BIS web page.

Thank you, I might try that to mess around. Here is my last (I hope, for now) question:

My older appointments on my outlook (Sept - Nov of 07) are not syncing onto my BB. I can't find a solution to this anywhere. It causes a problem when I sync 2 way, because it asks to delete those appointments from my Outlook, and I would much rather keep them there.

I tried the one way sync from Outlook > BB but it still doesn't sync them up! Is there an option to fix this somewhere?
