need help: tMO, att, or other?

I live in the Charlotte,NC/FT Mill, SC area and have Alltel on a gps enabled 8830WE. The coverage is excellent but recently their cust service is driving me insane. Needless to say, its time for a change. I wanna go gsm since I like to switch out phones often and gsm always gets them first.

Couple questions...should I get the 8310 because I love my gps or should I get the 8320 with wifi and get a gps puck? I'm used to fast CDMA internet surfing and so I'm not really concerned with wifi unless edge sucks that bad.

Also, who has the better coverage in and around NC/SC? Tmo just acquired Suncom and att has the Cingular network...I believe Tmo and att ended all roaming agreements recently so I don't wanna be left out to dry when it comes to coverage...help a brother out ya'll and give me some wisdom to make the best choice for short/long term. I've been with Alltel for 5 years and so I don't like to switch carriers often once a good match is made.

    Thanks

Well the 9000 (Bold) is coming out sometime this summer. That is what I am waiting for.
As far as the coverage down there I dont know. You can try to goto the carriers websites and see the coverage maps in your area to see who is best.

The coverage maps both show coverage with att looking stronger but sometimes the maps don't give the whole story...that's why I was curious if there are any firsthand tmo or att users in the Carolinas to tell me their experiences...it does appear that most would agree that tmo cust service is top notch.

If you have coverage for TMO then I would go with them. Great prices and great customer service.

Just ask people in your area about the coverage since those maps don't work very well.

I agree with Reddog, TMO has great rate plans. I would also tell you to take advantage of the 14 day return period...put the coverage to the test in all the places you frequent and see how your coverage is.

Also the 8320 wifi will allow you to make calls over your own router at home - its like having an antenna in the middle of your house!

I would wait for bb bold and have 3g, wifi, gps all in one. T-Mobile might be cheaper but they don't close to coverage compared to at&t. I travel all over the states and been very happy with at&t.

What issues are you having with Alltel Customer service? I have found them to be wonderful. I too had an Alltel 8830 so maybe I can help. Were you having issues with the phone, service, plans?????

I've been with tmo for years, had my pearl for about 8 months, I'd say go with something else...customer service has always been wonderful, I haven't had any problems, but yeah, edge sucks...

With the new wifi UMA calling feature, if you have WIFI in your house, I would strongly suggest T-mobile. It is free to use but uses plan minutes and they have the best prices by far.

The WiFi blackberry will also allow you to make/receive calls while traveling internationally at no cost...if you're connected to a WiFi network.
    Thanks,
    Angie
