It has been a long time since I have had a BB, and I miss it. A friend sent me an email asking what this message means.

He says he gets the following message every few hours.
    -----
This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server.

IIRC, this is a BES message. Whatever company he is using it through, he hasn't completely registered the BES setup. My guess, anyway.

Actually I beleive that message is generated by re-director, which is consistent with your post that he is having his mail forwarded from Outlook.

The best solution is to set up the email account on the BB and un-install re-director. Is there a specific reason he is using this method?

I heve received many of the same messages and all I use is BIS. Have never been connected to Redirector or BES.

Hi nitrap and welcome to the stacks. The other possbile cause of this issue is during install enterprise is selected for a non BES phone. For both of you I would suggest that a complete uninstall / reinstall of a current Desktop Manager would correct this issue. Be very careful during set up that enterprise or redirector are not selected.

Hi nitrap, welcome to pinstack. Did you set up the desktop manager, maybe you chose redirector by accident.

    Hey,

Aren't you supposed to use the redirector if your setting up the email to access an outlook account? If not, i guess i will run the installation software again and select blackberry enterprise? What is the difference between the redirector and the blackberry enterprise?

My email works fine but i am receiving multiple emails saying "This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server." Similar to Tweber.

    Shagg,

What type of email account are you using? Most likely you can use the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) setting.

Use control panel / add remove software for the desktop manager and select Modify. Then you can chenge the setting from redirector to BIS and stop the messages (we will need to delete a few service books, the DESKTOP CICAL and CMIME, to stop the messages)

    Post back any quesitons!

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

That messages comes from the RIM-Server that tries to connect a BIS-Unit to BES. Happens when you're on BIS and try to activate the EnterpriseSetup. After a few days the RIM-Server will stop that messages automaticly.
