    Dc, you're at our 'discussion forums' and one difference you'll notice here is that we keep to the theme of a discussions forum. Even more so a place for professionals. So my friend that's a very good point for discussion. Unlocking a blackberry for example when you purchase a Blackberry from say Cingular but you'd like to use it with any carrier and not just Cingular. Especially email. I have a friend who bought his blackberry from Cingular but couldn't use it for email until contacting Cingular to release the PIN and IMEI from the web client service (BIS) they provide via RIM.

    The short answer is that if you have a T-mobile phone and want to use it with Cingular service, T-mobile has to "unlock" your phone from their network. Once it's unlocked you can use it on any similar GPRS network.
