We've just announced a new version of the Live Search application for BlackBerry devices. This one's been re-designed from the ground up with a completely new UI, simple network detection, GPS integration and a lot more!

Download it by pointing your BlackBerry browser to:

Please read the FAQ if you experience trouble downloading or using the application at:
Of course, since we've re-done the app, we haven't taken the Beta tag off...yet. =) We'd love to hear your feedback before we do so, at:

    Sincerely,
The Live Search for Mobile Team

Excellent! I like the ease of use of the maps, especially the traffic map. The top searches is a nice touch and I enjoy having all of this on one screen with easy to see icons that I can glance at while on the road. Add a Weather Channel or similar app and I'll put WLS in front of Berry411.

This looks pretty good. If I could "Map from Address Book", I'd remove Telenav and maybe even BlackBerry Maps.

Searching for locations and directions is kind of tough. The movie search is pretty nice though. This won't replace beyond 411 for me but its a great resource.

Thanks for the love, all! We're glad you like it

    For the few hiccups:

More local data and the ability to map contacts are certainly on our to-do list. In the meantime, you can always go to our browser based service at m.live.com to get weather, instant answers etc - all through a simple search box

shmengie, You may choose a ZIP code to do your searches around! Simply hit Menu>Enter New Location or select Near: Enter New Location... and enter the ZIP code

This is rather strange. Are you outdoors?

seabirdone, Have you downloaded the latest version? This Beta is totally re-done and was just launched yesterday (unless you were on the alpha program ). We've taken down the previous one and we'll be updating them to the new version soon.

The site shouldn't be jammed. However, you can find more information at LiveSearchMobile.com (As a stack level 1, I am not allowed to post URLs.)

DCookSta, we would love to hear your feedback on what would make this a killer app. Please drop us a line at lsmobile@microsoft.com.

    Thanks again!

I also am having problems with the site. "Currently unable to handle your request ide to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server"
