    Hi all,

I'm using a second hand Blackberry 7290 on O2 pay monthly, and I signed up for a data plan hoping to use email and mms. O2 said they sent the settings for my phone and that it should be working, but it seems as if something on the phone is stopping it receiving the data. It was originally on O2, and there is no IT policy on it, so does anybody have any idea why my phone is not picking up the settings. I can send sms and make calls, but thats all I can do. It says Data connection refused and the gprs should apparently be in upper case letters which it's not.
I have wiped the device, but just haven't got a clue what to do next, is it worth keeping hold of my 7290 or just giving up and getting a newer model.

Seems like your still not on the right days plan. When I got my BB it said data connection refused so I called my carrier and they said they I was on the wrong plan. The switch it to the right plan and ive never had issues again.

    Hi,

Well at the moment I'm on the O2 unlimited tariff, which is recommended if I want to use emails and surf the web, so It gets confusing when I'm told by O2 that I also need a Bolt on which is the Pay as you use data plan, for emails and mms, which ends up not working in the end.

    I have now sorted it,
I went to Options: SMS: then changed my network from GSM to GPRS, and it seemed to do the trick.
