All my devices including my laptops are very secure and password protected at the root level. It's a must.

    Cheers...

No I never password protect my bb 8330. I sometimes just do the keyboard lock, I use my bb for personal us. No need to lock it I'm usually always using it or its on my person.

Everything is on my Berry - and I do mean everything. Credit Card numbers, all my family's Social Security numbers, every password, safe combination, it's all there. It's extremely convenient. That's one of the best features about BlackBerry is that they are so secure, even if a thief was an extreme BlackBerry expert he/she could not extract any information.

(Not to mention, my porn - just kidding)

What you'll need to do is use Desktop Manager on a regular basis to do backups to your computer. If you forget your password, type in an incorrect password 10 times and your Berry will erase all of it's information and then ask you to enter a new password. Then simply restore your last backup.

No, although I have 3 email accounts, myspace auto-logs me in, and my AIM program that does the same, I text my girlfriend, and have a few pics of her. They're not naughty, but that's beside the point.

I was thinking of adding something like this on the screen:
"This phone is useless without the password. If found, please call xxx xXx xxxx"

In case a ignorant non bb user finds it...

    Any thoughts, suggestions, improvements...

    Thanks

Locked and encrypted, including the media card. Way too much personal info at risk of falling into the wrong hands. After 8 unsuccessful attempts at trying to figure out the password....it wipes the device.

    Oh....I backup every day too.

I have a nosy baby mama who likes to go into my phone snoop around in my AIM, Email and Myspace and delete numbers or whatever she dosent like, usually when I'm sleeping, so I learned to lock up my device.

Yes, this is very effective and I use a variation of that message on my Curve. I list my office number as a point of contact. The message on the screen says " If this phone is found, please call XXX-XXX-XXXX" If they call, it leaves it open to negotiate whether or not a reward may be paid for being a good samaritan, even if the person who calls may have taken the phone. It is good to have options. A wiped phone is less valuable than one that still contains all my data.

I usually don't. Because of the really easy way of dialing 911 from the lock screen. They don't like it when you do that accidentally. Multiple times.
