How important is the sleeper function

I got a new case/holster from AT&T Saturday and I love it, but it does not have the Sleeper Function on it. How does that affect the Blackberry and is it necessary for the Blackberry. I do not want to do anything that will have an adverse affect on my Blackberry. Below are pictures of the case/holster. Thanks for any advice.

The sleeper feature is designed to save your battery. Not having that feature is no different than not having a case/holster. Simply adjust the timeout feature in your display menu.

Yeah it is a very nice case/holster. But I have always had a case that had the sleep function and old habits die hard . Harry I am loving the Curve .

DoubleM I also see what you are saying about the sleeper function and thanks.

Shadow- Not taking anything away from at&t...however, have you seen the Seidio spring holster? It works great.

Yea, sleeper function for me is a must...have to save the battery. I do have the holster from seidio, but I'm not a holster guy. Rather have my phone out of sight, in my pocket.

well since that case doesn't have the sleep function (magnet) you can just hold down the mute button on the top of your BB and put it into standby/sleep yourself. Only thing you will lose then is the auto-profile switch that the magnetic case would have (when you put it in it goes to vibrate).

I really don't like holster's either, but this case/holster is very nice. When the phone is in the case you turn it around and put it in the holster with the screen facing inward, but it still does not go to sleep. Something for me to ponder on lol. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Ok, please excuse my ignorance on this topic. When my BB is in a case with the sleeper function and say I get an email and my BB alerts me (I have BB alerts) I get a tone but the BB is still under the sleeper function. Will the way you suggest work like that also or I lose that ability. Just wondering.

I'm confused shadow, are you asking if your BBalerts will still work when with the sleeper function?

Re: How important is the sleeper function

Sorry about the confusion. The BB alerts does work with the sleeper function. What I was wondering was if I keep this case/holster and put my BB in sleep mode myself by pressing the mute button will any alerts still work. Like notifing of an email, etc. Did that come out right. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
