    Thumbs down HELP

Hey I need some advise. I got some liquid damage on my Blackberry and now the keys would not work. I get my emails and phone calls but cannot do anything with them. I know is a hard ware issue but I'm out of warranty with my carrier and I can't afford the exchange that RIM is offering me for an out of warranty device. Does anyone know of a work around or anything I can do besides running the app loader (i've done it at least 6 times as well as a java load). Please help Im using an old Samsung e715!!

    THanks

    Re: HELP

I dropped my work pager into my toilet. It went nuts. I took the battery out, soaked it in distilled water and let it dry completely. Worked fine.

The minerals found in water are what make water conductive. Distilled water is mineral free. I doubt that will help you but I thought sharing this 411 was important.

    Re: HELP

Hi pinkdiva and Dhernandez, let me welcome both of you to pinstack.com! Pinkdiva, depending on what type of liquid your BB may be salvagable. It is a good idea not to plug in your BB after you get it wet, and take it apart to dry it out.

    Re: HELP

This should be done very carefully and it won't always work. And if you get the temperature to hot, could cause additional damage. Attempt only if you have the time and ability to take your BB a part.

This procedure should be accomplished as soon as posible. Remove the Battery immediately. Open the Device and disassemble using t T6 TORQ screw driver. Separate carefully, the screen from the remainder of the device. Rinse the everything but the screen well with demineralized or Distilled water and drain as much as possible. Place in the middle of the oven set on 150 - 170 and leave the door slightly open to allow moisture to escape. After several hours of drying, allow to cool and then reassemble and test.

    Hope this helps.

How long did you let it soak?
    How long to dry?

    Just asking for knowledge

(I don't use my BB around water- lol)

    Re: HELP

I opened it up and soaked it completely for about 5 minutes. I left it open and let it air dry in the AC for 24 hours.

    Re: HELP...by 8700 got wet...very wet

My 8700g fell out of the holster and into the deep end of a swimming pool as I was bending down to pick up my child. I immediately took the battery out and dried it out the best I could. Now, when I put the battery in, it vibrates constantly and occasionally the screen comes on showing the hour glass icon with the red light blinking.

I tried to take the case apart to dry more thoroughly but after removing the 3 visible silver screws on the back with a small torx/star screwdriver, the case still will not come apart.

Can you point me to a guide to assist in my efforts to take the case apart?

    Thanks for your help.
