    Hard Vs. Soft Reset

A question for the techs. I have the soft reset app on my 8310 and 8100. What is the difference between soft reset and hard reset (pulling the battery)?

Hard reset dumps all of your temporary memory on the device. This leads to less problems such as call logs, MMS, and emails "disappearing."

Whats a soft reset? (lol j/k I just don't ever do a soft reset)

I pull the battery at least once a week as a minimum as preventative maintenence.
If you are using sometype of hard case or skin, I recommend the Program:
Soft Reset (even though it implies a power down, it does the exact same thing as if you were to remove your battery)

    Download via OTA

    or Using Desktop Manager.

Is the soft reset the same as pressing alt+cap+del?

Why download an app when you can press 3 buttons?

for once, alt+cap+del no longer works on the new 4.5 beta. But thats what battery pulls are for around here.

The SoftReset is much easier. I only pull the battery out when my BB is completely frozen and moving the trackball doesn't do anything.

Yeah, I'd like more clarification, because I swear the Soft Reset isn't as effective as the battery pull. I can't quantify it, but my results seem a little different.

In my opinion a soft reset does not completely resart all backround programs. Where a battery pull does. The "soft reset" program from www.geekandproud.com does the same thing as a battery pull without having to actually do one!!!!
