I am unclear if it has GSM or CDMA. Need to use it in Europe and Mexico
    as well as California.

With ATT now (8100) but want to move to Verizon.

    Thanks,

The Verizon 8130 is a CDMA phone. All Verizon and Sprint Phones are. I know with Sprint, international travel isnt a problem, but I am not sure with Verizon. Hopefully a more knowledgeable Verizon person can update you about their international options. Hope that helps.

    Sprint: BB 8330, 8830, 8130, 8703, 7250

But there's a beautiful view of the end of the world from the pier.....

    Re: GSM vs. CDMA

In the US, ATT and T-Mobile are GSM, Verizon and Sprint are CDMA. Most of Europe is GSM. Can't say about Mexico but I seem to remember that CDMA might work there.

My recommendation is if you travel a lot, look into the Verizon or Sprint World Phone, the 8830. It operates on CDMA in the US and GSM in the rest of the world.

CDMA isn't a problem when going to compatible country. However they are few and far between these days. Seeing that you go to both Mexico and Europe that counts Verizon and Sprint out, unless you do as previously suggested and get the 8830 from either of these carriers.

Not to mention these are the only two carriers that have a 3G BlackBerry while you're here in the states, and Canada as well if you're willing to pay for the roaming.
