Its not in the option menu. Once you are in the status menu simply type the word test. Then follow the prompts.

The diagnostic test for the Pearl is: Options--->Mobile Network--->Menu--->Diagnostic Test

It goes thru a myriad of tests and completes in under a minute. It even self pings your email if you have more than one.....

Hey, Drew. Working like a charm, didn't know that one... We'll see what result I get.

Also, got a kick out of your icon - my dad was an instrumentation technician on the first couple test models of the B-1..

On the Pearl, you have to type TY, ER, AS, AS, TY; since S is the second letter on the key.

Nope, didn't work. But, the other technique did. Although, it doesn't seem to have very user-friendly results. And doesn't seem to tell me if an open program is draining the battery.

Bought a new battery today and as soon as it's done charging, I'll see how long it lasts.

Well, the battery is down to 85% within an hour. Don't see this as normal. Again, does anyone know a way to view running apps to see if their draining juice?

Try pressing and hold the Alt key, then press the Esc key.

I'm upgrading to 4.5 right now, waiting for that to finish. I'll see if the install may solve some problems.

    I'll also try <alt><esc> when it's done.

    Thanks for the tip.

That is just a list of active apps like doing a Alt+Tab on your PC. I think he wants some diagnostic tools for his BlackBerry.

    I googled this

Maybe one of these will be an option for you.

The link was about the wrong type of "blackberries"... but thanks for the thought.

It's probably just the battery like all the others have stated. I once put my phone on top of my car and drove off, when I found the phone again, the screen was cracked, cover was flattened...but I could still make and receive calls. The battery would get really warm and drain within three or four hours even if I don't use it. I tried a new battery and it was fine. Different situation but similar problems
