forwarding calls - does it still depend on network?

    Hi,

Not sure if I'm posting this on the right board, BUT I am currently on an AT&T Curve and am switching to a Verizon Pearl. I cannot yet port my phone number to Verizon b/c I need data on both devices for a few months. In the meantime, I am going to forward all my AT&T calls to my VZW phone number.

    My question is this:

Will calls only be forwarded when I am in a location that has AT&T service? I get much better reception / signal on Verizon. Or does the forwarding happen at "home base" and makes no difference where my Pearl or Curve are physically sitting?

thanks very much for your help!!

Call forwarding is not device dependant. It is carrier based and it doesn't matter if your BB is on/off or has signal. They will forward from the carrier, and they will charge you air time on both networks. So remember that all calls to the ATT BB will cost air time on both carriers.

It doesn't make a difference. The calls will come in based on the signal strength of the phone they are being routed to.

What kind of data are you looking to transfer? The blackberry.net email account? If so will ATT allow email forwarding from that account for a couple weeks while you switch?
