for those using GMail (alerted for sent emails)

I don't know if this will help anyone personally, but I made a discovery that's saved me a bit of a headache.

In the past, whenever I send an email from a GMail acct configured with my blackberry, because GMail automatically puts a copy in the sent folder, I'm alerted back again on my blackberry because it's a 'new email' in the sent folder. Irritating, just a bit.

So it just dawned on me... I can't fix this in GMail settings, but I can fix this in the Blackberry Services settings for the email account. Here's what I did.

    1. Went to FILTERS for the email address.
    2. Apply Filter When: From Field
    3. Contains: 'enter your email address here'

Voila. No more alerts every time I send an email from GMail.

    good tip. added it.

however its got its good and bad. if you wanted to send some directions to your cell from your computer for a drive, it would block them. Any reason for sending info from comp. -> cell is out.

It's not on the device itself, but on the Blackberry Services Settings website where you can log in and toggle settings for the email addresses. Mine's at mycingular.blackberry.com for AT&T/Cingular.

You should be able to login at http://www.bellmobilty.ca/ and get to something like "Your email accounts" or your "blackberry settings" and setup filters as described. I'm with Tmobile so it's probably a bit different the way it's done. Can anyone with Bell be a bit more specific?
